Freedom of Speech & Expression Awareness

In the United States, the First Amendment ensures our freedom of speech as well as the freedom of the press, of religion, to peacably assemble and to "petition the Government for a redress of grievances." Other countries around the world have similar laws giving their citizens these rights. When these rights are threatened, as was the case on January 7, 2015 when the Charlie Hebdo headquarters in Paris, France were attacked, people stand up and express this right more than ever. The phrase "Je Suis Charlie" or "I Am Charlie" in English went viral over social media shortly after the attack showing those in France that millions world wide stand with them, and that we all should have freedom of expression.
